If IP authentication has been setup in the DCS for your institution, you will be able to access DCS content via the DCS content links while on campus (so long as you're accessing links via the institution network and not for example your own mobile data). If this hasn't been setup, or you're off-campus, you will be able to access the content via an alternative authentication method. This article is relevant for those institutions without federated authentication who have Manual Authentication setup.

First-time authentication for students
First-time users will see this screen when clicking on a DCS link:
Given that you will have been added to the DCS as a student, you should click on 'New User'. You will then be asked to provide your email address for password setup. This will be your university email not your personal email in most circumstances.
After adding your password, you will get a confirmation informing you that an email has been generated:
If for any reason this does not work, please try resetting password instead, and adding your email again.
If you still get a negative result, as per below, please contact your lecturer or library team, as it's possible your email has not been added to the Digital Content Store.
Once you do receive the email, you should click on the link to setup a password:
From here you should enter a password and then click 'Reset':
You may want to consider using the same password you use to log into your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) - i.e. Moodle, Blackboard or Canvas - for consistency.
You will see the below confirmation and can now log in:
From this screen you can also reset your password if you have forgotten it.
Upon clicking 'sign in', you will be taken to the link you tried accessing initially. You will not have to go back to wherever you found the link, e.g. your reading list, to find the link again. If you choose to save your password, you will not have to re-enter this the next time you try to authenticate.
Once authenticated, you will stay logged in for 12 hours, and will therefore be able to remain logged in to the extract for all this time and access any other DCS extract, without logging in again, if in the same browser session.
