When you first log onto the DCS, you will see the DCS dashboard. The dashboard contains several different sections that make using and navigating the DCS easy.
CLA Announcements
The first section of the dashboard is the CLA Announcements board. Here we will post any news we have on the DCS and information on the most recent updates to the system.
Go to Request
Use Go to Request when you already know a specific reference number and want to open it directly:
-
Request ID
Takes you directly to an existing content request in the DCS, allowing you to continue working on or review that request. -
Academic Request ID
Opens the original academic request submitted by a lecturer via the Academic Request Form or a reading list integration, before it is progressed to an active content request. -
BL Order ID
Jumps directly to a British Library (EHESS) order, making it easy to check the status or details of a specific BL request. -
ISBN or Title
Opens the relevant record in the DCS when you need to locate a publication quickly in order to view or create a related request.
Quick Search
You can begin creating a link to content straight from the dashboard, by searching for the ISBN, Title, Article title, DOI or Author of the work.
Licence
The Licence section provides a summary of all requests or links to content that have an outstanding licence status or permissions that are expiring in the near future. By clicking each status on the list, it will open the filtered list of the 'Requests in Progress' where you can view, edit, progress and complete the request.
Filter by Assignee
By default, the dashboard shows active requests across your institution. You can use the Assignee dropdown to filter the dashboard by a specific user and view only their requests.
Please note: dashboard filters are applied per session and will reset when you navigate away from the page
EHESS
The EHESS section will display the current status of your institution’s EHESS orders.
Academic Requests
The Academic Requests section of the dashboard shows new requests submitted by lecturers via an integrated reading list system or the Academic Request Form. You can review incoming requests, assign them to yourself or a colleague, and begin processing them in the DCS.
- New Academic Requests will show you brand new requests that have come in from the Academic Request Form or an RLMS integration.
- Academic Requests in Progress will show you any academic requests that are in an assigned status (i.e. which have been assigned to a member of staff, but haven't been progressed to an active request yet).
- Rejected requests will show you all requests that have been rejected (going back as far as the year you joined the DCS).
Content
The Content section of the dashboard provides quick access to requests that are already in progress or completed. From here, you can view and manage active content requests that are being processed, as well as completed requests where links have already been generated for students.
You will be able to minimise all of the dashboard sections as you could do in the original DCS.
