The below fixes and developments will be released on 12th June.
1. Email a lecturer
- Ability to email multiple lecturers the same content request. Users will be able to add multiple lecturers by clicking the "enter" button on their keyboard after every valid email address populated in the email field (note: there will be an upper limit of 10 email addresses).
Ability to input any email address regardless of whether the email address is stored in the DCS as an associate lecturer or a lecturer with a login.
Essentially, you can email a content request to anyone you want now, as requested.
2. Rejected Requests Filter
Users are now able to filter their Rejected Requests on their dashboard by Academic Year. This filter refers to the year in which the request was rejected.
3. Magazine articles
As you may or may not be aware, in the original DCS, you could put a magazine record through as a journal article. In the new DCS, there will be a new option on the Search & Discover page dedicated to magazines:
There will also be a dedicated magazine option in the Academic Request Form:
The fields for a magazine on the Academic Request form are very similar to those of a journal:
- ISSN
- DOI
- Magazine title
- Article title
- Extract author(s)
- Page range
- Volume
- Issue
- Year
- Delivery date
- Notes
If you are not sure whether the content you are using is from a magazine or a journal article, it doesn't matter. You will need to enter the DOI in the Journal Article search, and if nothing comes up, try again in the Magazine Article search. If nothing comes up in either, you can add a new record as you would normally do for a book or journal article.
In the case that you believe the content to be from a journal article but can't find it in the Journal Article Search, you can add a new article. If the DCS identifies the ISN/DOI as being from a magazine, it will tell you and take you to the record that already exists. The same applies if you create a new magazine record and the system identifies it as a journal article.
The reason we have introduced 2 new searches is because the system that sits behind the DCS, the Vault, stores journal articles and magazine articles as separate entities.
For reporting purposes, it doesn't matter too much if you have a journal put through as a magazine, and vice versa, but the DCS UI now gives you the option to search for both independently.
4. EHESS orders and cloning
It was bought to our attention that EHESS orders were not appearing in a cloned request. Any EHESS orders that have been processed and are completed will now show in the source content section of a cloned request. To be clear, any orders that are in progress, unable to fulfil or cancelled will not show in the cloned request. It will only be the PDF that's been supplied by the BL that will appear. It is worth noting that EHESS orders can only show once they have been processed and accepted by the Vault, which is the content repository of the DCS, so they will not appear instantaneously.
On the same note, any EHESS orders you currently make are available in the HEI supplied repository but again, only after they have been processed and accepted in the Vault. This means it may take a little more time for an EHESS order to appear for other requests and for other HEIs, but it will happen.
5. Ownership appearing blank on HEI report for content found in integrated LMS
It was bought to our attention that the ownership column on the HEI report was showing as blank for any content that was "Found in Integrated LMS". This has now been fixed. Requests made from launch to today (March 16th - June 11th) will remain blank, but any requests created from today will be populated in the HEI report.
